Amherst Superintendent To Step Down Next Year

Amherst’s school superintendent is giving the district a full year to prepare for a leadership change. E. Xiomara Herman says she will leave when her three-year contract expires in June of 2027. Herman has led the Amherst, Pelham and regional schools since 2024 and says she’ll remain focused on the coming school year, including the opening of Amethyst Brook Elementary and the new sixth-grade academy.
