New discipline data from Amherst Regional Schools show continued racial disparities in student referrals. Black students at the middle and high schools received disciplinary referrals at more than two-and-a half times their share of enrollment last school year. Hispanic students also had disproportionately high rates. Superintendent Xiomara Herman says the district is reviewing the numbers and expanding student support. Overall, high school referrals have dropped nearly 65 percent over two years.
