A last-minute agreement has prevented a weekend walkout at the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst. Tour guides had planned to strike Saturday after more than a year of negotiations over wages and working conditions. But Amherst College, which owns the museum, says it’s reached a preliminary contract agreement with the union representing about 20 workers. The strike is now on hold while employees consider ratifying the deal.
