Amherst is nearing a vote on new rules for smaller solar and battery projects. The proposed bylaw would create one local permitting process while setting standards meant to protect drinking water, neighborhoods and the environment. Councilors are still debating issues including well setbacks, inspections and wildlife protections. A final vote could come September 14th.
