UMass Amherst will receive more than seven million dollars for a major clean-energy upgrade at its central heating plant. It’s part of 23 million dollars in state grants for nine projects at public colleges and facilities. The Amherst system will reuse waste heat and is expected to cut campus emissions by more than 12 percent.
