Easthampton’s override recount is now official — and the result still stands. After a five-hour hand count Thursday, the city’s $6.9 million Proposition 2½ override passed by 234 votes, just five votes tighter than the original margin. Opponents requested the recount over concerns about mail-in ballots and election procedures, while city officials say replacement ballots were issued after nine voters received empty envelopes. The recount cost the city about $3,000.
