Hatfield Water & Sewer Rates Increasing

Photo: WHMP

Hatfield residents on town water and sewer will see higher bills starting this month. The Select Board approved new rates that raise sewer costs by 8.5% and water costs by just over 5%, adding about $100 to $120 a year for the average household. Town officials say the increases are needed to cover rising operating costs, including sludge hauling, fuel, labor, and future repairs. The town is also trying to build up reserves so emergency water or sewer problems do not lead to bigger jumps later.
