Holyoke Approves A City Wide Ban on Data Centers

Holyoke has become the first Massachusetts city to approve a citywide ban on large artificial intelligence data centers. The City Council voted 9-to-4 to prohibit facilities using more than 12 megawatts of power. The move follows weeks of resident concerns over water use, pollution and noise. The developer behind a proposed 20-megawatt project says it is still seeking a path forward.
