Hampshire County communities are getting millions of dollars for projects designed to better handle extreme weather

Communities across Hampshire County are getting millions of dollars for projects designed to better handle flooding, extreme heat and severe weather. Nine communities will share more than $6.7 million in state climate-resilience grants. Northampton gets $2.8 million to restore wetlands at a former golf course, while South Hadley receives $1.6 million to remove the Queensville Dam. Belchertown gets $1 million to begin converting the former Tadgell School into a community center and emergency shelter. //Funding is also going to Amherst, Cummington, Southampton, Hatfield, Goshen and Shutesbury.
